In around 3 minutes
we'll make a
bouncy text animation in Maxon Autograph,
a free After Effects alternative
SHOW THE ACTUAL RESULT
START WITH DEFAULT UI AND TEXT, LEFT ALIGNED
Let's begin! by switching to the Text Tool!
Click, and type
CLICK ON THE COMPOSITION, NO NEED TO BE PERFECTLY CENTERED
To make adjustments, first, highlight the text
Then go here
I'll set the size to 150
Now we can switch back to the Transform tool
DRAG UNTIL APPEAR CENTERED
To remove distractions,
click on the green pen icon on top
then disable overlay
To start animating, go to the top right
Beside Animators, click Add Animator
Then select, Position
You can drag this border to see the property better
In this example, let's make the text bounce upwards
So, increase the vertical position
By clicking and dragging the right-hand value, to the right
You can also hold Shift on your keyboard to change the numbers faster
I'll set it to 300
Next, we adjust the Range
Set the Offset value to be -100
To mark it as the start, click the box on the right,
then click the diamond on top
Now we can go forward on the timeline
CLICK ON THE TIMELINE
Let's say around 1 second
CLICK ON THE DRAG THE CURSOR TO BE EXACTLY 02:00
Then go back to Range, and set the offset to 100
Next, set the Shape to Ramp Down
And change the Easing to Custom Cubic
Then set Ease High to 1
Now we're going to duplicate Animator 1, so select it, and press Ctrl+D
Animator 2 will appear with the same settings
Although there is this glitch where Autograph adds another property, we can ignore it
Then change its position to be halfway in the opposite direction, so, -150
We can click this arrow to see the Range
then change both Ease High and Low to 0.5
Now we're going to duplicate it once again
This time I'll change the position to 30
Finally, let's make one more animator, this time choose Opacity
Set it to 0
Then open up Range,
Mark the Start at 100 then drag the playhead back, and set it to 0
Now if we click on the text layer, and press U on the keyboard, we can see all the markings, or keyframes
For animator 2 and 3, let's move them a bit so the motion will build on each other
I'll move them by 4 frames each
As for the opacity, I'll move the end to half a second
And now we have a bouncy text animation, for free
To align it to the centre
